Levesque & Ariganello Light Up Angus Glen North Course to Claim Loft 8° Ontario PGA Assistants' Team Championship

(Markham, Ont. May 6, 2009) - When Professionals have an opportunity to play a scramble it definitely shows in the scores. Dave Levesque (Rattlesnake Point) and Nicholas Ariganello (Brae Ben) shot 15-under-par 57 to capture their first Assistants' Team Championship.

"We played great today," said Ariganello who along with Levesque made 13 birdies and one eagle. "Our goal was to have fun today and we were able to do that," added Levesque who has now won at least one event in the last three years in Ontario.

The conditions at Angus Glen were optimal for scoring as 64 of the 64 teams finished even par or better. 60 of the 64 teams finished at least one under par and three teams shot in the 50's. This is the first time since the Assistants' Team Championship has been played at Angus Glen that a team finished under 60.

Other notable scores from the two man scramble included a pair 59's from Ron Kenesky (Hidden Lake) & Jim Kenesky (Lowville) as well as Luke Ridley (Rosedale) and Matt Peavoy (Rosedale). Defending champions Andy Holborn (Coppinwood) and Jerry Hinds (Heritage) finished in a tie for fourth at 11-under-par.

Notes: The Bamboomer long drive qualifier today was Colin Black of Greystone Golf Club. Colin is the first qualifier for the year ending Bamboomer Ontario PGA Long Drive Championship, which will be held at Angus Glen on October 27, 2009. Up next for the Assistants' is the Brisson Sports & Marketing Assistants' Spring Championship at Carry Place Golf & Country Club.
